What is a Certificate of Authenticity?
o Our Certificates of Authenticity, signed by the Court Videographer, are affixed to all Master/Originals, before archiving. o It certifies key points in the Federal Rules & California Code including: "that this tape is an accurate and complete record and is unedited tape of the testimony given by the witness. As well as, that the court videographer is not financially interested in this action, or a relative or an employee of any of the parties".
Where are the Master/Originals Archived?
o Master/Originals are archived, at Court Videography Associates, unless re-assigned, on-record, elsewhere. o There, according to law, appropriate parties can obtain duplicates for a fee; and the Master/Originals are stored following Federal Rules & California Code "under conditions that will protect it against loss, destruction, tampering, or deterioration" during the appropriate time-period.
What is a "Read-On" & why is it necessary?
o Both Federal Rules & California Codes stipulate that specific information about the case and its videotaping be included at the "heads & tails" of each unit of tape. The "Read-On" is read by the Ct. Videographer onto the official record & the videotape. o It helps demonstrate that the Master/Original videotapes have not been altered & that all deposition tapes are accounted for.
Time/Date Stamping:
o Court Videography Associates' Video Depositions are recorded with on-screen Time/Date Stamping. A synchronized clock is provided for Court Reporter to sync Live Notes or Real-Time to the camera's time. o Time/Date Stamping aids in the maintenance of the chain of evidence. o Time/Date Stamps make reviewing & editing the tapes easier for counsel.
